Analytical Lab
|
Combustion Resources maintains an analytical lab that is capable of serving many needs. Our facilities include abilities to perform Fourier-transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), proximate analysis, thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA), sulfur determination, grindability of samples, briquetting of materials, fossil fuel sampling, preparation, size reduction and classification, heating value determination, and more. |
FTIRFourier-transformed infrared spectroscopy is a powerful tool that can be used to identify organic and limited inorganic materials in a sample. FTIR measures the absorption of infrared light wavelengths by the sample; the bands of infrared absorption are specific to certain molecular components and structures. A few examples of FTIR use at CR include identification of unknown materials, verification of chemical change in a solid fuel, and the tracking of aging in health and beauty products. |
Ultimate AnalysisCombustion Resources is able to determine the amount of moisture, ash, fixed carbon, and volatiles in any material. We can also test for the amount of sulfur in a sample and the heating value of a sample. We can take preprepared samples or prepare them on site for testing. |
TGAThermogravimetric analysis can be useful in a variety of applications. At CR we have used TGA to determine differences in fuels, perform character comparisons of separate fuels, design combustion systems, etc. |
GrindingCombustion Resources has grinders and crushers on site. These aid in the preparation of samples for testing and can also be used to determine the feasability of crushing/grinding certain materials. |
BriquettingBriquetting can greatly aid in the ability to use certain materials the would otherwise be considered waste. Combustion Resources has experience briquetting a wide range of materials for a variety of uses. |
